Dental Coverage
Your Health Benefits for Immigrant Seniors (HBIS) plan includes dental care.1 We work with DentaQuest®2 to help you get the dental care you need. It is important to use these benefits to keep your teeth healthy. Find helpful tips for healthy teeth on . Check out "Oral Health Tips and Education."
What is Covered?3
Many dental services are covered when you go to an in-network dentist. You do not need approval from your PCP for dental care. Some dental care requires prior approval before you get treatment. Without approval for those services, you may have to pay.
Dental benefits can vary depending on your age. Members who are pregnant or have special needs can also get extra dental care.
BCCHP covers these dental services*:
- An extra cleaning annually (a total of two cleanings per 12 months) as part of the member Value-Added Benefits
- Two oral exams per 12 months
- X-rays
- Fillings
- Crowns
- Extractions
- Emergency dental services
- Limited root canals
- Limited dentures
*Some limits may apply to these services. Prior authorizations may be needed for some services.
What Is Not Covered?
This plan does not cover some dental services such as:
- Cosmetic dentistry
- Tooth bleaching and whitening
- Implants
