Coming soon: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois will send new and returning Medicare members a coordinated set of onboarding communications to help them get to know their plan and engage with their benefits early in the year.
MAPD members will receive:
- A ‘Welcome’ email in early April that shares a personalized "smart" video to learn more about their plan and valuable benefits. Additional reminder emails will be sent throughout the year.
- A ‘Welcome’ brochure will follow later in April for renewing members. It reinforces their plan details and benefits, directing them to their smart video and plan webpage.
- Opt-in SMS members will start receiving onboarding texts in March and April. Every 14 days they’ll get helpful nudges (e.g., schedule a wellness visit, log in, use a preferred pharmacy). Renewing members will get a “welcome back” text, followed by benefit-specific reminders. These texts will come from 33633.
Note: The personalized smart video is unique to each member. It translates the member’s plan into straightforward language – explaining benefits, costs, wellness programs and any optional supplemental benefits. Members can jump to the sections they care about and rewatch anytime. A built-in dashboard shows their personal benefits and reminders, so they always know where they stand.
PDP members will receive an onboarding brochure mailed in April that reintroduces their PDP plan and shares easy ways to save, like switching to home delivery or choosing a preferred pharmacy. They also get a Welcome Guide.
Your Help Goes a Long Way
We’re giving members what they need to use their plan – and your support helps them step into it confidently. Over the next few weeks, remind members to keep an eye out for a “Welcome” letter, email and texts from us (33633). You can also point members to watch their smart video, which explains everything they need to get started in clear, simple steps.
