Pregnancy Now Qualifies for a Special Enrollment Period

An update has been introduced that may benefit some families in your community.

For PY2026, pregnancy now qualifies as a life event, creating a Special Enrollment Period for individual and family coverage both on and off the Exchange.

What this means: A person now has the opportunity to enroll in individual and family coverage within 60 days after a qualified health care professional (including a licensed certified professional midwife) certifies they are pregnant. This SEP grants eligibility to qualified individuals who receive the pregnancy certification, plus their dependents.
