Extra Health and Wellness Benefits

Part of the "advantage" of having a Blue Cross Group Medicare AdvantageSM plan is the benefits offered above and beyond standard health insurance. The availability, cost and level of coverage can vary from plan to plan, so check with your benefits administrator or the Summary of Benefits in your enrollment welcome kit about your options.

Your Blue Cross Group Medicare Advantage℠ plan includes a $0 copay Annual Wellness Visit with your health care provider. Use this checklist to guide the conversation.

Here are some of the extra health and wellness benefits offered with our plans.

Schedule a virtual visit

Virtual Visits

Blue Cross Group Medicare Advantage plans offer coverage for Virtual Visits benefits provided by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and powered by MDLIVE.

With Virtual Visits your appointment will be with an independently contracted, board-certified MDLIVE doctor for minor, non-emergency conditions by phone, mobile app or online video anytime, anywhere, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Talk to a doctor immediately or schedule an appointment at a time that works best for you.

MDLIVE® is a separate company that has contracted with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) to provide virtual visit services for members with coverage through BCBSIL. MDLIVE is solely responsible for its operations and for those of its contracted providers. Virtual Visits may not be available to all BCBSIL members.

SilverSneakers® Fitness Program

Blue Cross Group Medicare Advantage plans include the SilverSneakers Fitness Program to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. Members have access to thousands of participating locations across the country. Some locations even offer group exercise classes led by trained instructors at select locations.

Rewards Program

The Rewards Program gives Blue Cross Group Medicare Advantage members a healthy and easy way to earn up to $100 in gift cards from national and local retailers. You receive a gift card of your choice for completing Healthy Actions throughout the year. Here are some of the Healthy Actions you can complete once per year:

  • Annual wellness visit
  • Annual flu vaccine
  • Colorectal cancer screening
  • Fall risk assessment

The Healthy Activity Portal is a website owned and operated by HealthMine, Inc., an independent company that provides digital health and personal clinical engagement tools and services for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois members.

Your Blue Cross Group Medicare Advantage plan may include coverage for vision services and provide an allowance toward frames and lenses or contact lenses.

Coverage for preventive and comprehensive dental care is available through some Blue Cross Group Medicare Advantage plans. 

Call a hearing consultant


Through our partnership with TruHearing®, some Blue Cross Group Medicare Advantage plans provide coverage for routine hearing exams as well as allowances on hearing aids.

Check your Summary of Benefits for details about what your plan covers. Visit the TruHearing website or call 1-844-207-1685 (TTY 711) to speak with a hearing consultant. They are open 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., local time.

Learn about over the counter coverage


Your Blue Cross Group Medicare Advantage plan may provide coverage for over‑the‑counter (OTC) drugs and other health‑related pharmacy products. Members may select items from a catalog and have them shipped directly to their home.

24/7 NurseLine

Blue Cross Group Medicare Advantage plan members can call a registered nurse
24 hours a day to get help with health concerns and general health tips. You can access the 24/7 Nurseline at 1-800-631-7023 (TTY 711).

For medical emergencies, call 911. This program is not a substitute for a doctor’s care. Talk to your doctor about any health questions or concerns.

Meals at Home  

Your Blue Cross Group Medicare Advantage plan may provide coverage for nutritious meals for a limited period after you are discharged from the hospital to aid in your recovery.

Blue365® Available to All Members

The Blue365 program offers premier health and wellness discounts to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) members, and it is free to join.

You can find savings like:

  • Discounts on exercise clothes and shoes
  • Discounted gym memberships and fitness aids, such as Fitbits
  • Savings on eye exams, glasses, contacts, hearing aids, and more

Check the Blue365 website regularly for the most current discounts.

Blue365 is only available to BCBSIL members with active health plan coverage. Members who do not have an active health plan with BCBSIL will not be able to register on the Blue365 website.

Blue365 is a discount program available to BCBSIL members who have medical coverage with BCBSIL.

This is NOT insurance. Some of the services offered through Blue365 may be covered under your health plan. Please refer to your benefit booklet or call the customer service number on the back of your ID card for specific benefit information under your health plan.

Use of Blue365 does not affect your premium nor do costs of Blue365 services or products count toward your plan deductible, calendar year or lifetime maximums. Discounts are only available through participating vendors.
