How Medicare Works

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people who are 65 or older, young people with disabilities, and people with permanent kidney failure who require dialysis or a transplant.

Medicare is made up of four parts, with each part covering different health care services you might need. Learn more about each part and service below.
