A Participating Provider Option (PPO) health plan works differently than an HMO health plan.

With a PPO, you:

  • Still have a provider network, but don't need to select a Primary Care Provider (PCP) for your care needs
  • Can get care from in-network and out-of-network providers, but you may pay less if you stay in-network
  • Can see a specialist without a PCP referral

When you’re thinking about your 2021 health plan choices, make sure to:

  • Find a doctor. Check if your doctors and hospitals are in-network. Use Provider Finder®
  • Search drugs by name. See if any covered prescription drugs have changed. Review HMO Drug List and Non-HMO Drug List 
  • Get a premium tax credit estimate. Learn if you can get a subsidy, also known as a premium tax credit, to lower your monthly premium payment. Begin estimate 
  • Receive electronic communications. Sign up to get your welcome kit digitally instead of by mail. Set preferences

Confirm Your 2021 Financial Help

If you had financial help in 2020, you may be at risk of losing your subsidy in 2021.

The Health Insurance Marketplace can let you know what steps you may need to take to get or keep your financial help in 2021.

It’s important you contact the Marketplace before the Open Enrollment Period ends on December 15, 2020. 

To update your 2021 information you can visit the Marketplace website or call the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596 (TTY: 1-855-889-4325).

Your 2021 Health Plan Options

Your health care coverage is your choice. Since your current health plan will no longer be available after December 31, 2020, we will be moving you to a new 2021 BCBSIL plan. You can keep this new 2021 plan or buy a different 2021 health plan during the Open Enrollment Period (OEP). These dates are November 1 - December 15, 2020.

Plus, because your plan is ending, you also qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). This gives you extra time to buy your 2021 health plan. These dates are January 1 - February 28, 2021.

Please note, if you want coverage that starts on January 1, 2021, you must enroll in a new plan on or before December 31, 2020.

If you’d like to keep this new plan, no action will be needed. Simply pay your monthly premium bill by your next due date.
