Regular health screenings, immunizations and wellness checkups are critical to help detect health issues early, when they're easier to treat. Your Wellness Can't Wait. Now is the time to make preventive care a priority.
Through our Wellness Can't Wait campaign, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) is collaborating with local organizations to connect those in need with access to tools and resources that empower them to take a proactive approach to their health — with sights set on long-term wellness.
During June, our Wellness Can't Wait campaign is spotlighting Men’s Health Month. Play this video to hear what our vice president and chief medical officer, Derek Robinson, has to say about blood pressure and how it can damage your kidneys or cause a heart attack or stroke if not treated. Download this flyer to reveal the five top causes of death in men, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
"To help our communities stay healthy, it's important that we provide opportunities for as many people as possible to make their health a priority. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois is proud to partner with local community organizations that do so much to make wellness care and resources accessible." said Dr. Robinson. "Working together to make it possible for Illinois residents to maintain regular checkups and health screenings is an important way we can promote wellness at home and throughout our communities."
As part of our Wellness Can't Wait campaign, we partner with organizations to host local events, share educational resources and spread the word about how residents can access care in their communities. Services provided as a result of BCBSIL grants to Illinois organizations include, COVID-19 and flu vaccinations, routine pediatric and adult vaccinations, access to dental, behavioral, infant and maternal health care, and wellness screenings.
Check our Blue Door Neighborhood CenterSM (BDNCSM) calendars for virtual and in-person educational opportunities. All programming at BDNC locations is free and available to BCBSIL members and non-members. In addition, our Care Van® program will be handing out Wellness Can't Wait educational and access to care information.
