How Do I Keep My Blue Cross Community Health Plans Benefits or Change Plans?

Blue Cross Community Health Plans knows your health is important to you. Once annually, you may have to complete a renewal process to keep your benefits. You can also decide to change your healthcare plan and choose BCCHP. The good news is, both are easy to do!

To keep your Illinois Medicaid benefits, follow these easy steps:

  1. During Redetermination, The Department of Healthcare and Family Services will send you a notice in the mail 45-60 days before your Medicaid coverage expires.
  2. Watch your mailbox! You will receive renewal forms about two weeks later.
  3. Fill out the forms by the due date listed to make sure you keep your coverage.
  4. Return the forms even if you didn’t make any changes to them.
    You can submit the forms:
Online: Visit www.ABE.illinois.gov. Create an online profile, click
on Manage My Case and do everything through the website!
    Mail: P.O. Box 19138, Springfield, IL 62763

Redetermination (Rede)

To retain your Medicaid benefits, you have to renew your coverage at least once every year. This occurs one year from the start date of your IL Medicaid coverage. If you receive SNAP benefits you will do it twice a year. This annual renewal is sometimes called redetermination or REDE. This is the simple process outlined above to make sure you are still qualified for HealthChoice Illinois.

See the easy steps to complete your Redetermination above!

Please don’t delay on your renewal documents. If you do not respond to your HFS forms, your coverage will automatically end.

Open Enrollment

Annually, you can change your health plan during “Open Enrollment”. Client Enrollment Services (CES) will send you a letter about 60 days prior to your anniversary date. Your anniversary date is one year from your health plan start date. The date you first enrolled in IL Medicaid.

You will have 60 days during your Open Enrollment to make a switch by calling CES. After the 60 days has ended, whether a plan switch was made or not, you will be locked into that plan for one year.

If you do not want to switch your Medicaid plan, you do not need to do anything during open enrollment.
