Illinois House Bill Aims to Increase In-Network Options for MH/SUD Services, Effective Jan. 1, 2027

Sept. 14, 2026

Illinois House Bill 1085 (Public Act 104-0446) aims to increase in-network participation by mental health and substance use disorder providers to give Illinoisans more in-network options. The legislation goes into effect Jan. 1, 2027. It impacts reimbursement rates, the time it takes to join our networks, how we reimburse MH/SUD services and coverage provided by a behavioral health trainee.

What does this mean for you: If you’re a MH/SUD provider, it will be simpler to join our networks. If you’re already in our networks, your reimbursement may change. No action is needed on your part.
