A provider record ID is a unique identifier with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois that corresponds to a billing or rendering National Provider Identifier and Tax Identification Number.
No change to billing: The record ID isn't required on claim submissions. Continue to bill claims with your billing or rendering NPI and TIN.
When record IDs aren’t used: If you haven’t filed a claim with your billing or rendering NPI and TIN with a date of service within 24 months, we may cancel your corresponding record ID. That means you might be terminated from networks associated with this record ID.
If you want to keep your record ID active: File claims under your billing or rendering NPI and TIN within 24-month periods.
To apply to reinstate a canceled record ID: Complete the provider onboarding form.
