Moving to a Group Retiree Medicare Plan
Welcome HCSC retirees! You have come to the right place for information on the transition from a HCSC Traditional Plan (PPO, HSA and HMO) to one of our Group Retiree Medicare Plans, administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. This change applies to Medicare-eligible retirees and dependents.
If you or your covered spouse will be age 65 or older as of January 1, 2025, you will be required to make an election in one of the Group Medicare plans during the open enrollment period later this year. Your new coverage will be effective January 1, 2025.

Get Ready for Open Enrollment
While Open Enrollment is a few months away and your 2025 contributions and final plan designs are not yet available, you can do the following things now to get prepared:
- Make sure Employee Services has your current home address, phone number and email address on file. Call them directly at 1-866-977-7378.
- Check your mailbox for communications from HCSC and/or Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. An announcement letter will be mailed in June. More communications such as the Open Enrollment package will be sent as Open Enrollment nears.
