Notice of Changes to Your Benefits Due to COVID-19 Pandemic

Your health is always our priority. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) health plan gives you access to the care you need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • COVID-19 testing and treatment
  • Doctor’s visits using telehealth
  • Mental health support

Some COVID-19 benefit changes may end with the end of the public health emergency. Our COVID-19 website has the most up-to-date information about these temporary changes to your benefits, and when these temporary benefits may be ending.

We invite you to visit the site at bcbsil.com/COVID-19 often for details on what’s covered or call the customer service number listed on your BCBSIL member ID card.

Ends with the end of the HHS public health emergency.

In-network COVID-19 treatment at no cost-share at in-network providers

April 1, 2020

Ended Dec. 31, 2020.

Telehealth visits at no cost-share at in-network providers

March 16, 2020

Ended Dec. 31, 2020.

Early fills (up to 90 days) of some covered medication at select drugstores or by mail order

March 8, 2020

Medicare members - Ends with the end of the HHS public health emergency.

Medicaid members – Ends when state disaster declaration ends.

 

Benefit coverage for self-funded groups may differ from the dates listed above. If you are in a group plan and are unsure what your plan covers, contact your company's benefits administrator.

Remember to use your BCBSIL member ID card for your doctor's visit and testing to help with the reimbursement process.
