  • What number should I call to contact Customer Service?

    Call toll-free at 1-800-325-0320, available 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday. You can also register for Blue Access for Members. Be sure to have your BCBSIL member ID card handy for registration.

  • What information is available in Blue Access for MembersSM?

    Blue Access for Members is your online resource for managing your health care coverage, and a gateway to wellness resources available only to BCBSIL members.

    Register or log in today to:

    • Check the status of a claim
    • Find a doctor, hospital, or urgent care center
    • Estimate the cost of procedures, treatments, and tests
    • Request new ID cards or print temporary ID cards
    • View benefit highlights
    • Choose paperless Explanation of Benefits (EOB) claim statements

    In addition, you will be able to access the My Health tab. When accessing the My Health tab, you will be directed to Well OnTarget. Within Well on Target, you will have access to take a Health Assessment, sign up for Self-Directed courses, view Life Points and access your Food and Exercise Diary and interactive health calculators.

  • How can I find a participating doctor or hospital or determine if my doctor is participating (PPO)?

    There are several ways for you to search for a doctor or hospital:

    • Use the Provider Finder® – You can search by name, type of provider or specialty and filter by zip code and language using the Provider Finder on this website
    • Call Customer Service – Call us at 1-800-325-0320 and a Customer Advocate can help you find a provider in your network.
    • Search on the go – From your mobile phone's web browser, go to bcbsil.com and click on Find a Doctor or Hospital.
    • Download the Provider Finder app — The Provider Finder App is available for your iPhone or Android phone. Use your GPS location or input a ZIP code and the App can pinpoint the closest provider to your location.
  • Are printed directories available?

    The Provider Finder allows you to print your own personalized directory based on the search criteria you enter.

  • How can I find a doctor outside the United States?

    Visit the Blue Cross Blue Shield Global® Corel to locate providers outside the U.S. You can also call Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-325-0320 or call Blue Cross Blue Shield Global® Core toll-free at 1-800-810-2583. Be sure to have your ID card handy.

  • Is a referral required to see a specialist?

    Referrals are not required. However, to receive the highest level of benefits, members you should verify that the specialist is in the PPO network and the services are covered before receiving medical care or treatment. Contact Customer Service for assistance.

  • How do I know when a claim has been processed and finalized?

    When you opt out of receiving paper Explanation of Benefits (EOB), you will receive an email notification about the status of your claim. If you haven't opted out, then a paper EOB will be mailed to your home address. You can also check the status of your claim by logging into Blue Access for MembersSM, or by contacting customer service at 1-800-325-0320.

  • How can I change my address?

    Contact your Human Resources Representative.

  • What name appears on the Identification (ID) card? Does each family member have a personalized card?

    The subscriber's name or employee's name is on the ID card. Family members do not receive cards in their own name. When services are received, present the ID card to the provider for any family member and the claim will be processed and finalized from the information found on the ID card.

  • If I receive medical care or treatment in a pharmacy or urgent care facility, are services covered the same as in the doctor's office?

    While all services are based on the medical necessity of the care received, the ITW Plan covers medical services rendered in a variety of settings, to include a retail pharmacy or urgent care facility. Call Customer Service at 1-800-325-0320 to learn more.
