Transitioning Your Care

Transition of care allows you to receive covered services at the in-network benefit level from an out-of-network provider on a temporary basis. 

Situations that may qualify for transition of care include:

• Pregnancy in the second or third trimester 
• Being hospitalized prior to the new coverage effective date
• Long-term treatment of cancer, heart disease and organ transplants
• Terminal illness where life expectancy is less than six months. 

Disabled Dependent

If your adult child has a disability, they may be eligible to stay on your health plan. 

We know how important it is to make sure your child continues to receive the care they need. If your adult child has a disability and relies on you for support, they may be able to stay on your BCBSIL health plan even after turning 26.

You may have a one-time opportunity to enroll your disabled child over the age of 26 in your Gallagher benefits. For information, contact the AJG Corporate Benefits Team.
