BCBSIL Extends Telehealth Benefits Through Dec. 31, 2020

This notice was updated to reflect the extension of the member cost-sharing waiver from Aug. 31, 2020 to Sept. 30, 2020.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) is continuing its expanded telehealth benefits program through Dec. 31, 2020, and waiving member cost-sharing through Sept. 30, 2020.

This applies to members participating in commercial fully-insured PPO, Blue Choice PPOSM and HMO plans receiving medically necessary health care services and treatments provided by in-network or out-of-network providers. Benefits for services and treatments will be determined consistent with the terms of the member's benefit plan.

To check telehealth eligibility and benefits for a member, call our Provider Telecommunications Center (PTC) at 800-972-8088 to request office visit benefits and speak with an agent for telehealth-specific information.

Any fee schedule or coding changes related to telehealth benefits will be communicated 90 days in advance on the News and Updates page or through the Blue Review newsletter.
