eCARE® Online Change

Currently, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) allows providers to search eligibility using the member’s social security or identification number via the Membership tab. Effective July 1, 2016, eCARE Online will offer membership and eligibility verification exclusively through the Eligibility & Benefits tab. This change is being implemented to heighten security of our members' protected health information. It will also help ensure that you receive the most updated information quickly and efficiently.

Checking eligibility and/or benefit information is not a guarantee of payment. Benefits will be determined once a claim is received and will be based upon, among other things, the member’s eligibility and the terms of the member’s certificate of coverage applicable on the date services were rendered. If you have any questions, please call the number on the member’s ID card.
