iEXCHANGE® Multiple User Security Safeguard

The iEXCHANGE online preauthorization tool now includes a new safeguard that “locks” a request to prevent multiple users from editing or extending an existing preauthorization request at the same time. This security safeguard will help us ensure the correct information is recorded in your request. You will receive the following warning message if the request has been locked: 

“The request is currently being edited by another user; you will have view-only access to this request. Search again for this request to refresh your view for the most up to date treatment information prior to updating this request. If you do not refresh your view, you risk updating this request with invalid data.”  

While our online options are typically the fastest and most convenient way to do business with us, we know that sometimes you need an alternative method of reaching us. If you have a locked request that requires attention after a maximum of 90 minutes, contact Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois Medical Management at 800-572-3089 and follow the prompts for preauthorization requests. 

Please note that the fact that a service has been preauthorized/pre-certified is not a guarantee of payment. Benefits will be determined once a claim is received and will be based upon, among other things, the member’s eligibility and the terms of the member’s certificate of coverage applicable on the date services were rendered.
