Introducing Blue Cross Community OptionsSM
Posted March 1, 2014 (Updated April 18, 2014)
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) is pleased to introduce Blue Cross Community Options – our Blue Cross Community MMAI (Medicare-Medicaid Plan)SM and Blue Cross Community ICPSM, or Integrated Care Plan. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all independently contracted providers for their cooperation and support of the March 1, 2014, implementation of MMAI and ICP.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the State of Illinois have contracted with BCBSIL to implement MMAI – a three-year demonstration program developed to better serve individuals who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid. The plan will combine Medicare and Medicaid funding under a blended payment agreement to provide integrated, comprehensive care for dual-eligible members. BCBSIL offers services to MMAI members in 6 counties: Lake, DuPage, Kane, Cook, Will and Kankakee.
The Illinois 2011 Medicaid Reform Law requires the Medicaid plan to enroll at least 50 percent of Medicaid members into coordinated care/managed care by Jan. 1, 2015. The ICP is for seniors and adults, 19 or older with disabilities and Medicaid only (no Medicare). BCBSIL offers services to ICP members in Cook County.
