How Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois Uses its Building as a Community Billboard

The Chicago headquarters of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois is a big city billboard that helps highlight the company's campaigns, causes and community partners.

ABC7 Chicago recently highlighted the process and the people who help spread positive messages on a huge scale. The story is also getting a national audience on ABC's Localish network.

"We don't put everything up on the building front — we don't do proposals or wedding announcements," Harmony Harrington, BCBSIL vice president, government and community relations, told ABC7. "But we do try and partner with local organizations to bring awareness to key health issues."

In September, for example, BCBSIL worked with the building electricians to light the skyline with "Wellness Can't Wait." That's the message of an ongoing campaign encouraging people to talk to their doctors about safely catching up on important care they may have missed or delayed because of the COVID-19 crisis.
