Transportation Services

With your Blue Cross Community MMAI coverage, you may qualify for transportation services. This includes rides to and from your doctor's office or a health care facility. Trips must be medically necessary.

What services are covered?

The plan offers rides to plan approved health-related locations such as:

  • A doctor's appointment
  • An appointment with another health care provider
  • A dental appointment
  • A pharmacy

What services are not covered?

You can only use this service for medical needs. The plan does not cover rides:

  • For non-medical needs (examples: to go shopping or to visit a friend)
  • To see a provider who is outside our provider network (without special authorization from BCBSIL)

If you need a ride to the doctor, call Member Services at least 72 hours before your appointment. The hours that you can receive a ride are Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Call 911 if you need emergency transport. (You do not need an OK from BCBSIL in the event of an emergency.)

  • We are available seven (7) days a week. Our call center is open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Central time. On weekends and Federal holidays, voice messaging is available. If you leave a voice message, a Member Services representative will return your call no later than the next business day. The call is free.
