Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) has announced a premium credit to eligible fully insured customers. This means we’re providing more than $108 million to fully insured employer customers, providing more relief during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We’re providing two different credits on November Customer Statements that reflect a percentage of October premiums, based on benefit plan coverage and contract size:
The company has completed all required informational filings and obtained any required approvals from state and federal regulators.
Why are we providing the premium credit?
We've worked closely with our customers during the pandemic to understand the economic and health challenges you, your employees and our communities face.
Every decision we've made is through the lens of a long-term commitment to our members and our communities, with the goal to support our customers and members, just as we always have. It’s why we offered the COVID-19 Economic Relief Program to eligible new and existing fully insured groups in July.
Do I need to do anything to take advantage of this program?
No. If you’re eligible, you’ll see the premium credit reflected in your November Customer Statement.
