Update on Small Group Applications
We understand and share our customers' concerns when it comes to their health coverage and we apologize for the recent delay in processing small group applications. We have added a hotline for urgent questions, additional staff and expanded hours to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
We have an unprecedented volume of new small group submissions for 2016 an increase of more than 300 percent. As a result, we’ve experienced a backlog in processing applications, which has caused coverage delays for some small group customers.
We want to assure our customers that processing delays will not mean additional costs for those with approved small group coverage plans. Once your small group's application is reviewed to determine eligibility and is approved, BCBSIL will honor the effective date and will reimburse you for covered services according to the terms of your plan. If you have existing coverage with us, you may want to consider maintaining that coverage until you receive confirmation of your new small group policy.
