Secure Messaging

Secure Messaging is a fast, easy and secure way for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) members to communicate with specialized Customer Service Representatives via Blue Access for MembersSM (BAM). This enhancement allows you to send email inquiries to Customer Service Representatives and receive email answers from the convenience and security of your own desktop (currently, responses are by phone or mail).

This is great news because:

  • It’s convenient — You can send questions and access responses at any time.
  • It’s private — Secure Messaging is a confidential way to get answers online.
  • It’s environmentally friendly — Communicating online instead of by mail saves paper.

BCBSIL uses the latest technology to maintain the confidentiality of your information and continues to evaluate new technologies for additional safeguards. Questions are stored in a locked "in box." Our specially-trained customer service representatives access questions and reply directly to members via Blue Access for Members.

With Secure Messaging, all communication happens behind fire walls in a secure database.

How do you get started? Just register for Blue Access for Members and log in.

It’s as easy as one-two-three:

  • Log in to BAM and click on Register Now.
  • Grab your BCBSIL member ID card and follow the simple registration steps.

Go to your email account and click on the link in the validation email sent to you when you register.

That's it! You are now ready to log in and start taking advantage of all the great tools Blue Access for Members offers.
