Attention Institutional and Professional Electronic Submitters:

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) will be performing an internal system upgrade. This Institutional and Professional Claim(s) upgrade will take place this weekend December 5-6, 2009.

The enhancement allows for the implementation of the new Document Control Number (DCN) or Claim Number(s) format, which is assigned by BCBSIL. The new format will include a combination of 17 alpha and numeric characters, with the alpha character appearing within the 11th through 15th positions of the number sequence. This DCN/Claim number sequence will appear on your Delayed Payer Report (DPR), Electronic Remittance Advice, Electronic Payment Summary as well as your Provider Claim Summary.

This upgrade may cause your DPR to be deferred between 24 and 48 hours during this weekend’s implementation only.
