Online tools can help you decide if BlueEdge^SM is right for you. After you enroll, you'll have access to online member resources to help you manage your plan and health care.
The The Health Plan Cost Estimator Tool answers questions about your health and health care expenses to see how BlueEdge fits your budget.
With Blue Access for Members, you can review the status of your Health Care Account (including current balance, payments made to date and year-to-year rollover amounts), check the status of a claim, view the explanation of medical benefits, confirm who is covered under your plan and request a replacement ID card. You can also receive an e-mail when Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois finalizes your claims and send an inquiry via e-mail to customer service through our secure server.
The Personal Health Manager is a resource of online tools and information to help you make informed health care decisions. Log in to Blue Access for Members and click on the Personal Health Manager icon to take the health risk assessment, set up a personal health record, access online health content such as videos and interactive tutorials, receive targeted wellness information and set up reminders about medical appointments and screenings. Found within Blue Access for Members, the Care Comparison® Tool lets you quickly compare hospitals, based on specific diagnoses and procedures. You can search and compare hospital performance factors such as length-of-stay, the number of procedures performed and complication rates.
The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois Provider Finder is designed to give a listing of providers from our networks considering your specific needs. You'll be able to search for providers in your area, or find a specific provider by name, as well as create and print a customized provider directory based on your search. You can also use Provider Finder to obtain maps and driving directions to providers convenient to your location.
The Blue Star Hospital Report provides performance information on 93 contracting, urban Illinois hospitals. The information comes from multiple sources and is designed to help you select providers that best meet your needs.
Within one month of enrollment, expect a call from a BlueEdge expert to help you better understand BlueEdge and how to maximize the benefits of BlueEdge. The welcome call provides a convenient opportunity to get answers to questions you may have about your health plan.
