In most cases, you don't have to file a claim yourself. Your hospital and doctor will file your claims directly with us, that means hassle-free claims processing for you. Simply show your Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois ID card to your hospital or doctor and your paperwork will be automatically processed.

If you find that your hospital or doctor does not submit your claims to Medicare or us, you will need to send in your Medicare Summary Notice. Be sure to write your group and subscriber number on the claim(s).

Can I access my claim information on line?

You are now able to access one year of claim history on line through Blue Access for Members. To protect your privacy, a password is required for access to your Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois claims information. Click here to go to Blue Access.

What is Medicare Crossover?

Crossover is an electronic claim-filing service set up with Medicare, which automatically transmits claims processed by Medicare to the supplement insurance carriers listed on file. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois participates in Medicare Crossover.

Once your membership is established, you are automatically set up for your claims to crossover to us from Medicare. Usually, this process occurs immediately; however, in some cases it can take up to 30 days for this process to be complete.
