90-Day Supply Program

The 90-day supply benefit program can save you both time and money. With this program, you have the option of obtaining a 90-day supply of maintenance medications through a network of contracting retail and mail service pharmacies. Your specific health care benefit plan and whether your medication is generic, formulary or non-formulary brand will determine the amount you pay. Using a generic or formulary medication will save you money.

Oral contraceptives may or may not be covered under your health care benefit plan.

How to Purchase a Maintenance Medication at a
Retail Pharmacy

First, locate a contracting 90-day supply retail pharmacy within the state of Illinois. You may need a new prescription to purchase a 90-day supply of your maintenance medications at contracting retail pharmacies. Ask your pharmacist if a new prescription is needed.

How to Purchase a Maintenance Medication from a
Mail Service Pharmacy

Current contracting 90-day supply mail service pharmacies include PrimeMail and Walgreens Mail Service. Follow these easy steps if you are ordering maintenance medications through PrimeMail or Walgreens Mail Service for the first time:

  1. Ask your doctor for a new written prescription for each medication you want to order through the program.
  2. If you need the medication right away, ask your doctor to also give you a prescription for up to a 34-day supply to fill immediately at a local contracting pharmacy.
  3. Send the prescription(s), the applicable Registration and Prescription Order Form and the full amount you owe to the address on the order form. You can write a check or use a credit or debit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover). Please do not send cash.

Note: If you currently have a prescription with open refills through Walgreens Mail Service, follow the instructions on your prescription label to refill via phone or online.

If a change is made to an existing prescription and you need a refill immediately, you can provide your doctor with a Physician’s FAX Form so that he/she can send your prescription directly to the mail service pharmacy for you. Please note that the mail service pharmacy will only accept the FAX prescription directly from your doctor’s office.
