Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois Chief of Staff Named a Leadership Fellow

Aug. 07, 2014

Manika Turnbull Honored by Leadership Greater Chicago

Chicago, IL — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) Chief of Staff Manika Turnbull has been selected to the elite Leadership Fellows Class of 2015 by Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC).

She joins 35 other diverse leaders who during their year-long tenure will explore the challenges and problems facing metropolitan Chicago. They will learn about issues including education; crime and violence; healthcare; housing and regional infrastructure; and race, identity and diversity.

"We are so proud Leadership Greater Chicago selected Manika as a 2015 Fellow," said BCBSIL President Karen Atwood. "They saw what we already know — that she is committed to making Chicago and all of Illinois a better place. Her knowledge and insights will help to shape a better future."

Manika Turnbull has been with BCBSIL for eight years. Before serving as Chief of Staff, she was BCBSIL's Strategic Human Resources Business partner and served as Operations Manager in the Service Delivery Operations division.

She has a PhD in Organizational Leadership and a Masters in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where she also serves as adjunct faculty for the Business Psychology department. Turnbull earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from James Madison University in Virginia, where she also played Division I basketball.

The 2015 Class of Fellows were chosen from a field of more than 100 candidates for their dedication to effective leadership and community service, career achievements and a desire for a lifelong commitment to leadership in Chicago's civic arena. They were welcomed into LGC during an inauguration ceremony on July 30th.
