Open Enrollment Delayed on Spanish-Language Health Insurance Marketplace
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have announced that open enrollment on the Health Insurance Marketplace will not be available on the Spanish-language website starting October 1, as originally expected.
You will be able to find information about possible health insurance plans and tax credits on the website , but will not be able to fill out an online application at this time.
You can still:
- Apply over the phone with a Spanish-speaking representative.
- Fill out an online application on the English version of the Health Insurance Marketplace.
In the meantime, if you need insurance now , or if you need coverage for January 1, 2014, but don’t think you qualify for financial assistance, you can buy directly from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois either online or by phone at 1-866-514-8044, Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. CT, Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT, Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT.
We are working closely with CMS and will continue to give you the information you need to understand what the new health care law means to you.
You also can explore Health Care Reform and You, which is available in Spanish, and sign up for updates to stay informed about changes to health care and the upcoming open enrollment.
