Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and The Illinois State Council of the Society of Human Resource Management team up for the 2012 WOWIES! (Wellness in our Workplace) Awards.
Now entering its third year, the WOWIES! is an awards program that recognizes employers who champion the health and wellness of their employees and strive to create a work culture that promotes physical activity and healthy behaviors. Research has shown that effective employee wellness programs improve productivity and reduce health care costs. The WOWIES! seek out those programs that accomplish these goals so they serve as best practices and case studies for all Illinois companies and HR professionals.
The WOWIES! program was developed by a partnership between The Illinois State Council of the Society of Human Resource Management (ISC-SHRM) and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL).
The WOWIES! program has two categories: one for companies with less than 200 employees; one for companies with more than 200 employees.
Three awards are given under each category: Platinum, Gold and Silver. Each winning company will receive a letter and plaque and be recognized at the ILSHRM Convention in summer of 2012.
