Actuarial
The Actuarial Division develops formulas and guidelines to forecast financial risk and determine the financial values assigned to HCSC’s insurance products and services. Departments and job types within the Actuarial Division are as follows:
Pricing and Rating: The Pricing and Rating areas provide rates and rate formulas for all size groups and individual business.
Networks: This department provides financial analysis of contracts with physicians and hospitals, in support of Pricing and Rating.
Valuation: The Valuation area provides fair and reasonable estimates of the outstanding actuarial liabilities related to insured business of the enterprise.
Forecasting: The Forecasting team provides management with timely and relevant information about HCSC's expected future financial position.
Health Care Analysis: This department provides economic information and financial analysis regarding developments in medical costs to enhance understanding and enable more informed decisions toward optimal medical cost strategies.
Actuarial Systems: This department designs and develops analytical systems which support business processes in actuarial and underwriting.
Actuarial Student Program: For persons taking the actuarial exams, HCSC offers a competitive support system which provides time during the workday to study and financial support for exam and seminar fees.
