Effective 1/1/2009, the Alliance Network will no longer be offered through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. Subsequently, if you continue to use an Alliance provider after 1/1/2009, benefit reimbursement will be paid at the out-of-network level and you may be balance billed.
If you are currently using an Alliance provider, you will want to find a BCBS PPO provider in order to continue to receive the advantages of utilizing an in-network provider. Also, for dates of service on or after 1/1/2009, please inform your provider to file claims directly to their local BCBS plan.
